Bathrooms

We had thought it best to address our troubled bathrooms further down the line (like years later!) but it was driving our contractor crazy that he could not tear down the walls in the upstairs bath and re-frame it. We gave him the go ahead but that opened up a whole new can of decisions.

After looking at the space, we were having a hard time wrapping our head around the whole layout since the area is quite limited and there being a brick chimney in the way. It got quite funky trying to fit the bath/shower, sink and toilet in there. So, I walked away from it hoping for inspiration.

We were having the same problem with the downstairs bath. Peter had decided to replace the shower with new stall (much needed!) but our hallway and doorways were too narrow to get the new fiberglass insert through. Our options were to either go with a shower pan and tile, or demo yet another wall in order to get the insert through there. We decided to bust down another wall- (why stop?) and realized that there was a ton of space to work with under the newly placed stairs.

We realized that we could put a shower/bath downstairs and have a guest shower upstairs. How perfect! Now we have all of our elements in the proper place and at the same time, utilized the spaces much more efficiently and as Peter would say, "With the least amount of expense!"
